Visualization
Visualization is a simple yet highly powerful mental skill that all successful people have. Science has proven that if you think about something over and over again and with enough intensity, your brain can’t actually tell the difference between whether or not you have actually done what you are thinking about or just imagined it.

What Are You Waiting For?
Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.

Prepare Mentally For a RUN
Different people have different ideas about how they prepare mentally for a run. Some say it's 80% physical, 20% mental, while others say it's 20% physical and 80% mental. There is a mind-body connection, and you can't underestimate the mental piece. Most people start running and they get bored in the mind and stop. You must have motivation to run. Nothing can make you move your legs down the path if your head and heart are just not into it. You are the only one that can make yourself move. Run with music and other people as often as you can. Leave comments on what do you think about while running?

STRONG Minded
A strong mind is one that is able to think independently. It takes courage to trust one's own thoughts and conclusions. Like animals have claws, teeth, fur, etc., humans have a brain. It is our primary survival organ, yet so many people allow others to tell them how to believe. Someone with a strong mind has the courage to seek out answers on his/her own rather than accepting others.

Breaking New Barriers
In sports there have been certain barriers that, once broken, suddenly get surpassed by a surprising a number of athletes. The 4-minute mile is an obvious example. Initially it was thought to be unbreakable, but as athletes got closer and closer, they realized it would be broken – and suddenly, a good number of athletes did so in close succession. Today CrossFit athletes break that barrier with some regularity. Do you continue to get better? How long have you been training? It's time to test yourself and start knocking holes in some of these walls.
Believing you can do something can help you achieve many goals that you once thought were almost unachievable. Set your standards on almost impossible personal records and then work toward them. There are people who think they can and people who think they can’t. Both are right.

Do you LOVE to Run?
You must run for the pure joy of running. That is the most important component of all. Running for any other reason will probably keep your mind and body closed to the euphoria of flow. You will need to train your body to run as efficiently as possible. You will need to improve your running mechanics. Be sure that you’re balancing the challenge of your running with your existing skill set.
Summer Track Work begins in June.

Are you in THE ZONE?
The zone is a state of consciousness where the athlete's skills perfectly match the performance requirements of his particular sport. It's almost like an out-of-body experience, and it seems effortless.
Many believe that this perfect zone is related to the release of endorphins in your brain. Being in the zone is a natural high. Can you turn it "on" and get into the zone at will? When you practice smart and train hard, when your preparation is good and you practice religiously over a long period of time, you invite the zone to appear.

LOVE Running
You can be in the best physical shape of your life, but if your mind isn’t into it, chances are you’re not going to have a great run. Also, you probably are not going to get very far. I think people often over-look the mental part of running. The times I have done the best in races, haven’t necessarily been just because I was feeling strong physically. My mental state, including my emotions and overall beliefs about how I could do, have had just as much impact as my physical state. Not every run is going to feel great. They certainly won’t all be easy, but when you approach a run as something fun, chances are you’re going to feel better.

Training to win!
If you want to reach your peak level of performance and be a winner, especially in CrossFit, you must accomplish five tasks:

1. Raise your lactate threshold as high as possible, so that intense efforts can be maintained with a minimum of fatigue. This is called muscle endurance, how long can you GO!

2. Prepare yourself psychologically, so that the changes in training and competing can be handled more easily. Learn from the past and live in the NOW!

3. Maximise your aerobic capacity (V02max) so that more energy is available to sustain your exercise. The more you run, row, and jump the bigger your engine becomes!

4. Become more efficient at your weaknesses, so that less energy is wasted during competition and hard exertions feel less stressful. Embrace what you do not like and something that kicks your ass!

5. Learn how to rest, so that your hard training is perfectly balanced with adequate amounts of recovery.

Powerful Mind
The best athletes seem to form mental images of themselves moving powerfully and quickly, through the movements. Good competitors have the ability to let bad performances roll off their backs. They tend to regard poor performance as an opportunities to learn more about themselves. Then make necessary changes in both their physical and mental preparations for the next competition. Try to move through everything in your head first, then tackle it physically.

Think Positive

What if you found out that the thing that slowed you down during a workout wasn't your lungs, your heart, or your muscles, rather it was your mind? Would you take any steps toward training it so that it wouldn't continue to hold you back? When you set out to do something it's usually 90% mental. So next time you want to have a great time on a WOD you need to visualize the time and go for it. You have to think positive and just go for it.

Hitting A Wall

For me it is when my legs feel like jello and concrete all at once. When I feel like I am made of rubber but then if I moved one more inch I'll collapse. The wall, well, I think you will KNOW when you hit it. It is when your desire to move and what your body does in response to that desire don't sync...I think it is mainly mental... but that is pure theory at this point.

State of Mind

To stand out from the crowd, you’ve got to push yourself to another level. I’m a different person in the gym than when I’m around my friends and family. I can put myself in another state of mind. I laugh with my children at night, but early in the morning when I’m back in the gym, I go somewhere else. I’m focused and intense. I can’t find this intensity if I’m not in the right state of mind. I prefer to train alone. I don’t care what you did last night or what you are doing tonight. I like my music. It's said that how you do what you do is more importanat than what you do.
