POSE Running

Yesterday I ran the 5k @ LaFortune park in the rain and finished in 24:12. Since I am now using the POSE method of running, I'm slower than I used to be but, injury free. It's taken me 4 months to feel comfortable in the POSE. Click this link to find out more information. www.crossfitendurance.com

  1. Since you're doing the POSE style, have you had any problems with your achilles tendon? On my runs I'm trying to land more on the ball of my foot rather than heel strike, and it seems like my achilles it taking a lot of strain being under constant pressure.

  2. Achilles typically gets injured when healstrikers straighten their knees and do the roll and do the push off, paw back, etc and forefoot landers land ahead of the body and keep the heel too high off the ground in rigid position at a fixed angle... all of that puts a tremendous load on the achilles tendon. Since using the POSE I pull the foot and lean forward which results in reduced loading on the achilles. I've been feeling pain free and can now go longer distances when needed.
