Who cares how much you weigh?

I tend to keep people off the scale unless it's been a few months. Why? Well, a couple of reasons stick out. Because I'm not in the business of making people into stick figures. I like to see you at your best, which means lots of lean muscle mass and happy. If we chase numbers, let's chase the one's that are important - our benchmarks for performance. You see, weight means very little. When an athlete comes in and says "I'd like to lose 10 lbs", I usually say "no problem". I know that once you start to build some lean body mass, your body fat will get burned up as fuel. However, your body weight might not go down... uh... that's right - it might even go up! But as your lean body mass eats that fat for fuel, eventually you'll see those numbers go down.

  1. I think the term "stick figures" should be re-thought. Some so- called "stick figures" are incredibly strong, fast, healthy, and dedicated to what they put in their bodies. Some studies suggest that a lower caloric intake leads to less disease and a longer life span. The phrases don't judge a book etc. and check your ego at the door, very challenging I know, come to mind.

  2. Hello Anonymous,
I think you misinterpreted what I was saying. I don't want people to think that by training the way I do, they can become super skinny. I was saying it doesn't matter how much you weigh. By eating healthy and training smart you can become what nature intended for you. Everyone is different and people have different goals. I'm into CrossFit and Yoga to change peoples lifes not to make them skinny and lose lbs.
