I'm not gonna lie to you, CrossFit is HARD. It's about as physically demanding as anything else you could ever be expected to do your entire life. As a matter of fact, most people will go their entire life without ever having to do anything as hard as CrossFit. We do CrossFit not only to make our bodies faster, stronger and healthier, but also for an intangible benefit that can't be explained. The intangible lives somewhere between pride and self-esteem, and it's a little different for every member at T-Town. It goes beyond writing your score on the board, and setting a new PR...it's....something else.
"If you never raise the bar and set higher standards for yourself, how can you expect to rise above others? Go beyond what is expected." Chad E Smith

STRONG Minded
A strong mind is one that is able to think independently. It takes courage to trust one's own thoughts and conclusions. Like animals have claws, teeth, fur, etc., humans have a brain. It is our primary survival organ, yet so many people allow others to tell them how to believe. Someone with a strong mind has the courage to seek out answers on his/her own rather than accepting others.

Do YOU Practice Core Strength Moves?
Yoga uses your own body as the weight you lift and hold. Sounds like gymnatics and bodyweight exercises. Many yoga postures require major and minor muscle groups to be used simultaneously. Some people feel like every muscle in their body is being used! This is different than traditional weight lifting. The strengthening in yoga requires your entire body to be working as one unit. The strengthening of one muscle group is connected to that of another muscle group. This improves your overall core strength from a centered and connected place. You will find it much easier to move quickly and effortlessly in sports when your whole body feels strong as a unit.

Be StRoNg
You're capable of much more than you think. The mind quits before the body does. "I can't" just means "I don't want to." Know the difference.

Want REAL Results???
There really is no secret to becoming FIT! Here are the things I do everyday of my life.
Weightlifting: Lift weights 3 times a week. Focus on then big lifts: Deadlift, Squat, Press, Cleans, Jerks, & Snatches. Focus on the functional and gymnastic accessories: pull-ups, dips, push-ups, muscle-ups, box-jumps, & kettlebell swings.
Conditioning: Sprint, carry, run long distance sometimes, row, swim, yoga, bike, & play sports.
Follow a program and listen to your body: Train it hard almost every time you step foot in the gym. Those with specific goals should follow a legitimate program focused on that specialty. A general Crossfit program can do wonders for 99% of you and also serve as GPP compliment to any sport-focused program.
Make sure you rest: Everyone should have at least one full rest day, some need more. For those that hate being inactive, you can spend time on active recovery: do some yoga, walk, hike, and do other outdoor low-intensity physical activity. Remember that you must take rest at some point.
Eat a clean diet: Lots of quality protein and fat. Tend to stay lower carb consisting of starchy veggies, some fruit, and sweet potatoes. Athletes can use higher carbs as activity level will demand.
Manage lifestyle factors: sleep, stress, & recovery

Strong Kids
16% of American children are obese. 55% do not meet the minimum requirement for physical activity. Obese or overweight children are more likely to become obese adults; resulting in numerous health & psychological issues. We want to get kids on the right track, early. We want to show kids that fitness is FUN and should be a part of daily life. It is important to teach our kids how to be active in a world where it is so easy and convenient to be inactive.

Active Parents = Active Children
Young children typically have tons of energy and it is wise for parents to encourage their children's natural tendency toward active play. It's important to involve your children in all these fun activities. Parents who make time to play and be a little silly with their kids will encourage them to enjoy themselves as they develop healthy habits.

Be Strong & Just Breathe
Yoga takes you into the present moment, the only place where life exists. Yesterday is gone, and tommrow is not here. Live in the now, for the now is all that we have. Be Present!
You cannot always control what goes on outside. But you can always control what goes on inside.

Stretching will make you STRONG!

Yoga stretches should be viewed as generic, in that, they are stretching positions that emphasize specific stretching effects, however, this does not have to limit there overall adaptability. In other words, listen to your body and use each yoga pose to your advantage and feel the stretch where you know you need to feel it best. It is not motivating to stretch on one's own, so taking a yoga class in a group setting with many others stretching with you can be a fun and innovative way to make stretching an important part of your training, as it should be.
