1 Mile School Run
This was our fifth year to run the school 1 mile race. Kate ran non-stop the whole mile. This year I told her to just start running from the starting line and I would keep up with her. She took 4th Place in her grade! Ella ran for the 4th year and took 6th Place. They both have lots of energy and run fast for kids.

I AM A RUNNER
Whether you're a seasoned competitive runner or a novice who has never toed the starting line, races are one of the best motivational tools you'll find. They are a sure way to get you moving, because they involve goals in both the short-term (training runs) and long-term (the race itself).

3 Hour Snake Run 2015
Kiah and I ran 14 miles total in about 2 hours and 32 minutes @ Turkey Mountain on Saturday morning for the annual Snake Run. This is the 5th time we have ran this race.
The course is actually an out-and-back, but for simplicity we'll call it a loop. You will run 3.75 mile loops, hitting the turnaround in 2.1 miles, then you'll run then route in reverse. One section is bypassed on your return trip, and you'll hit the start/finish after 3.75 miles. Then you do it all again. How many laps can you run in three or six hours? It's up to you.

3 Hour Snake Run March 21, 2015
This unique race will be a six hour or three hour timed run taking place on mostly flat, nearly rock and root free, single track trails on the western side of Turkey mountain. The run will start on March 21, 2015 at 9:00 am, and finish at either noon for the three hour or 3:00 pm for the six hour. The course will head northwest from the old upper parking lot following some of the trails used in the Turkey and Taturs race including of course the Snake Trail. These are some of the smoothest and easiest trails on the "mountain". We also have taken great pains to remove all of the larger snakes from the course. Just kidding. Actually, the snake trail gets its name because it winds around like a snake, not because of an infestation of slithery reptiles!

There will be 2 aid stations, one at the start/finish area near the old upper parking lot, and one at the turnaround. You do not have to run for the entire six or three hours. You can run one out and back, run until you complete a 3.75 miles, atop at a half marathon, a full marathon or a 50K if you're real fast.
First 250 entrants will receive a technical fabric T-shirt . You also will receive a medal that will have a front row row spot in your trophy case. There are also terrifying trophies for the top three male and female in both events.

The 2015 TRC POSTOAK Challenge will be held March 7, 2015 and March 8, 2015Online registration is now open!
From the Race Director: The TRC POSTOAK Challenge started out as an idea for a nice 5K race, or maybe a 10K - or maybe both? A couple of years later, we had built 15 miles of trails and put on one crazy weekend of running. The first year, we had approximately 400 runners. This year, we had over 900 registered. We run six races in two days, a 10K, 25K, 50K on Saturday and a quarter, half, and full marathon on Sunday.

3 Hour Tatur Snake Run
On March 22nd is the 3 hour Snake Run again. I usually cover anywhere between 12-16 miles in the 3 hours. Kiah my dog also runs this race with me. One year I had to carry her out the last mile because she decided she was done.
This is a "timed event", as opposed to a "set distance" run. It's on a 3.75 mile out-and-back (2.1 miles out, 1.65 miles back) single track trail. There is very little elevation change, and the trailz are easy--as compared to most of the other trailz on Turkey Mountain. The challenge is to see how far you can run in three or six hours.
Near the end of your time, if you do not have time to run another out-and-back, there is a half mile adjoining loop where you can run right up to the end of the 6 or 3 hours to tack on extra mileage.
The race is limited to 275 runners. After the race is filled, we will start a waiting list in case there are no-shows on race day.
SIX Hour race starts at 9:00 AM sharp. THREE Hour race starts at 9:15 sharp.
This race is part of the Oklahoma Dirt Trail Race Series.

Post Oak 10k Results
This was my worst showing in the last 5 years. I’d like to have run faster and made a better showing, but my back was tight. I pulled it Thursday lifting weights and it never loosened up. The Post Oak put on another amazing race. This race hurts everyone that runs it.The last hill is dubbed “The Hill from Hell.” It’s wooded, rocky and very steep in spots. What makes this hill particularly hard, is that once you’re about 60 feet from the top, a switchback takes you halfway down the hill. Then you have to regain all that elevation before reaching the top and the last half-mile to the finish.

2014 POST OAK 10K
The POSTOAK Challenge Trail 50K, 25K, 10K is not a walk in the park, these are trails in the woods and it is not for the faint at heart. This is the TRC POSTOAK Challenge. The trails are a combination of less than a mile of existing gravel roads, old farm roads, a couple of chat trails, and miles and miles of single track trail winding through meadows and deep woods. As hard as we have tried there is no avoiding the hills of Osage County. It is a beautiful course with a little bit of everything. There are rocky areas, creek crossings, and a good chance of mud on the trail, but for the most part it is the hills that will give you the best workout. For this reason we have raised the difficulty rating to a seven (out of ten). If you plan to run this one fast then you need to train for hills, lots of hills.
