Rowing Damper
The damper setting is like how deep you put the paddle in the water. Whether you pull as hard as you can or not is irrelevant. When you select your damper setting you are selecting how deep you are putting the paddle in the water. From there it’s up to you whether you pull the paddle hard or easy and thus go faster or slower. Well what should I set it on? Whatever gets you there the fastest! The shorter the distance and the stronger the athlete the higher number the damper setting should be. The longer the distance and the weaker the athlete the lower the number should be. Concept 2 has said that rowing with a damper setting of 4-5 is most like rowing on the water.
