1st Triathlon Results
The St. John Indoor Triathlon was a 500 yard swim, 8 mile bike and 3 mile run. The swim took place in a 25 yard heated swimming pool consisting of 4 lanes (two swimmers per lane). The 8 mile bike ride was performed on stationary up-right bikes set up inside the group fitness studio. The 3 mile run took place on a three lane track with slightly raised embankments at the corners. It took 36 laps to complete three miles. I made the mistake of doing 150 GHD sit-ups on Thursday morning during a workout. My abs were super sore when I woke up to do the tri. The swim is about what I expected. I took off doing the first 50yds with freestyle, then I used breast stroke and freestyle mix. I was the third person getting out of the pool in my heat. My transition was 54 seconds, which I thought seemed fast. I got on the bike and never really pushed myself that hard. It took longer than I had anticipated on the bike. The run felt awesome. I think I'm going to continue working on my swim technique and attempt another triathlon.
