Balanced Eating

When you eat food you're basically getting some form of protein, carbohydrates and fat. What role do these play on the body? Each has a unique role that is essential for the health of the body. Today, with all the fads, we are led to believe that fat is evil or carbohydrates will make you fat and on and on. When you know the facts of each, you'll realize they all play an essential role.

What is Protein?
Protein is for building and maintaining your muscles, bones, organs and other tissues that keep your body functioning.
Very important that you eat your protein. Lack of protein will cause your organs, like your liver, to break down. It's far more important if you're more active, as in weight lifting. After your muscle fibers are ripped, your body needs to repair them, and if none are coming in your body will use your organs to fill the void.
What is a Carbohydrate?
A carbohydrate is to provide the quickest form of energy, first converted into glucose, than pumped through the blood for the body to use.
Why is breakfast the most important meal of the day? It's because it provides your energy for the day. Well, the carbohydrates provide it. If you're planning on having a high energy activity, you should eat carbohydrates before hand.
What is dietary fat?
Fat is for vital body functions such as making hormones, building cell walls and storing energy.
I like to think of it as the energy for our bodies to do it's behind the scenes functions. Fat is best used by the body when you're sleeping since your body is in a state of rest and repair.
